Due for completion: 2012–2014
Project brief: The project involves the reconstruction of berths 28A, 28, 29 and 30, along with the existing container storage areas, to give the container terminal a throughput capacity of 500,000 TEU per year.
Morstroytechnology has carried out all the design and survey work for the project and has received approval from the government inspection bodies.
To enable the mooring of vessels with capacities of up to 7,000 TEU, the Lesnoy pier is to be extended by 50m.To ensure the safety of mooring and towing operations for vessels to berths 28A and 28, the berths must be dredged to a depth of 13.6m.
Berths 29 and 30 require reconstructive excavation to reach the specified design depth of 14.5 m.
The berth reconstruction is being undertaken as part of the NMTP Group of Companies’ participation in federal programmes for the development of the transportation industry and the full-spectrum projects Reconstruction and Upgrading of the Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port and Development of the Novorossiysk Transport Hub.
The Berth reconstruction will permit the handling of larger vessels up to 200m long and 32.2m wide, while installation of additional cargo handling equipment will help increase the port’s throughput and reduce total cargo handling time.
In 2014–2015, construction and installation works for Phase 1 of the berth reconstruction were completed, with Portgidrostroy LLC as general contractor for the project.
Morstroytechnology’s specialists supervised the construction works and provided technical support for the project.
