Murmansk is a port of strategic importance for Russia, handling large volumes of cargo, however the port’s only passenger berth is in poor condition.

Project brief: To restore the port of Murmansk’s passenger berth to connect the city with neighbouring regions and promote tourism.

The specific characteristics of the local conditions demanded uncompromising solutions, both from Morstroytechnology and from the contractor performing the pier construction and installation work.

In January 2015 the long distance pier successfully entered service.

It has been over five years since the tall ship Sedov last set sail from the Port of Murmansk, and for all these years the world’s largest sailing ship hasn’t returned to the Kola Bay – until now. Murmansk locals and guests alike got the chance to see this legendary vessel and even go aboard during the World War Two Victory Day 70th anniversary celebrations.
