Background

This project required transport infrastructure development proposals that would avoid redundancy and allow for rational investment planning to modernize the system, while at the same time taking into consideration the relevant technical and environmental limitations.

Result

In the event, a total of twelve detailed development scenarios were presented, two of which (main and reserve) were recommended to the customer, TNK-BP Management. The customer approved the main development scenario.

For the customer, the project resulted in an optimal development scenario and a 5-year follow-up programme with the following benefits:

  • a reduction in the reconstruction costs of US$10m;
  • the reconstruction was carried out with no interruption to trade or loss in throughput;
  • reduced environmental impact;
  • retention of the capability to load refined products onto river tankers.
